Stumbled across a listing of Sexiest men that never were. Fictional characters from film and literature that would be hot if only they were real. I have specified some of my choices when it is really more about the actor in the role than the character . Let’s face it, some actors can make unsavory characters rather appealing (Alan Rickman as Severus Snape in Harry Potter series).And while some of you may expect a listing of all of Rickman’s roles, I have chosen only one. I have also ommited all TV characters but one, I am too fickle.

Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights- Tall, dark and handsome, his intensity is appealing but in the end just a little too brooding
Lestat- don’t blame me, blame Tom Cruise
Spike- the accent?
The Count of Monte Cristo- nice sword
Lucius Malfoy as played by Jason Issacs from Harry Potter- Mostly its the accent and the sneer. But the overwhelming evilness means he just don’t fit

10. Rick Blaine as played by Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca- self sacrificing, imperfect, looks good in a white tux
9. Mark Hunter (a.k.a. Hard Harry) from Pump up the Volume- great voice, willing to fight the man. a leftover high school crush
8.Eric from the Little Mermaid- I felt the list should contain one cartoon character and Eric wins. Tall, dark and handsome and the most likely to look good as a human
7. Luke as played by Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke- Not only does this anti-hero look good even when he needs a shower, he inspires his fellow inmates, eats 50 eggs and refuses to conform to the system
6.Aragorn in LotR as played by Viggo Mortenson – in the books I actually though Haldir would be hot but on film Viggo was king. His stubble, his jawline, and the sword. oooh and he wears a cape
5.Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird- if you can’t figure it out, it cannot be explained to you
4.The Phantom of the Opera – the cape, the passion, the talent, the voice
3.Captain Picard from Star Trek TNG – the voice, the intelligence, diverse interests and the accent
2.Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice as played by Collin Firth -smoldering elitist with an accent… and he’s got nice boots
1.Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility as played by Alan Rickman- The voice, the hair, the boots, the passion, the nobility, the restraint, the intensity, the accent and the voice. Swoon.
Satanic peace sign?
I like to tell people I am an American when it pisses people off. When I read articles like this I like to assert my Canadian self and say “Americans are stupid”. I am just going to go ahead and assume that anyone dumb enough to think a peace sign is satanic didn’t have this warning sticker on the cover of their bible.
I think a better way to support the troops is this Canadian brewery’s employee initiative to donate a week’s worth of beer rations to the troops

I am sick of this frackin’ cold snap. Its really the wind chill that’s killing me. I can’t shovel both the front walk and the back path in one go. I’m not alone in the hatred of the cold. My dog will only stay out long enough to do what he needs to do and not a second longer. He walked to the back of the yard this afternoon and layed down to try and warm his paws before he came back. I carried him in.
Wierd side effect of the snow/cold. After shovelling my jaw is swollen. Once it returns to normal I shovel some more and it swells again.
Good news on the grandma front. My father’s mom had her angiogram and they discovered the cause of her chest pain. While they are not able to repair the problem with an angioplasty they feel it can be controlled with medication. She is now at home.

ok, watching an old lady with a heart condition die in transport is not exactly entertaining on the eve of one grandma going to Calgary for an angiogram. Noon tomorrow.
Second grandma not doing so well . Her heart is only functioning at 15%. Doctors have “exhausted all the options available to them”.

I just watched Gwen Stefani perform her new song on the American Music Awards. The sampling of The Lonely Goatherd from the Sound of Music made my skin crawl. As for the performance and new look Feels a lot like the recent work and styling of Nellie Furtado. and to that I say one Man-Eater is more than enough.
edit: speaking of bad… Rascal Flatts cover of Tom Cochrane’s Life is a Highway. The way he says “all night long” is sooo nasal
Too Fickle to Decide
Ever since Nellie asked “what’s your top 10″ I’ve been pondering what my list would be. Nellie’s list if full of “well written, smart, funny shows” If the shows I choose must meet these criteria then that negates any reality TV. Lets face it I enjoy some reality TV, (ANTM, Survivor,Project Runway). Some of my favorites of past seasons are not as good this season (Gilmore Girls)Some shows I watch on autopilot and alternately enjoy and endure (Law and Order) so I can’t narrow down a list
Duelling Grandmas
It seems that when one of my grandmothers gets sick, the other soon follows.
Dad’s mom has been in the hospital for over a week, they are planning to send her to Calgary for an angiogram and presumably then an angioplasty.
My Mom’s mom spent last week in the hospital as her blood medication was outta whack. She is now home, but mom has gone down to visit for a couple of days.
both the chest-pains and the thin blood have become fairly regular occurances,what I want to know is why do they usually happen at the same time?
update: my mom’s mom was in the hospital when she arrived. Looks like her 2 day trip just got extended.

I just watched the new trailer for the upcoming Harry Potter movie. Order of the Phoenix
This movie should be filled with lots of Snapey goodness. I very much look forward to this film. Not only because of Alan Rickman, but because of the new director, David Yates who directed the TV movie Sex Traffic. Based on this I figure he should be the ideal choice for the emotional side of the story.
