geek day
Today is a total geek day for me. Anything that catches my attention is firmly part of pop-culture.
Check out this surreal trailer for an upcoming bit of Japanese anime Paprika Its an R-rated film about a psychotherapist who can enter her patients dreams. As a review in the Newyorker put it “Set in a business world of long white corridors and glass walls and research labs, it’s a Freudian-Jungian-Felliniesque sci-fi thriller, and an outright challenge to American viewers, who may, in the face of its whirligig complexity, feel almost pea-brained”
the previews of Robotchicken Starwars make me want to tune in.
The battle at Helm’s Deep as done by muppets makes me grin.
pretty mindless right? its not like I’m linking to photos of Kristen Bell in a bikini
One more thing not to say at the airport
When I took my first airplane flight, I remember getting a lecture listing all the things not to say at the airport. Do not say bomb. Do not say shoot. Do not say explode. Do not say gun. Now there is one more thing to add to the list. Do not say “I’m here to shoot a pilot“
That cracks me up.
Just enough time
After last week’s snowfall, the weekend sun has been much enjoyed. Saturday started early with a trip to the farmer’s market. From there it was off to get bedding plants. Mid-shop there was a large delivery of plants and we were able to get most everything we were looking for. The only downside was the epic wait in line, just over an hour. As it was early when we left for the market, I didn’t think of putting on sunblock. Unfortunately the hour in the hot sun left me sunburned.
Today I slept in. With rainfall forecast, the day was filled with high speed planting. 6 hours, 550 L of soil, 3 1/2 flats, and 84 basket stuffers later I’m dead tired. Oh, and the garden is almost done.
The rain is now falling steadily and the clouds are thundering. I need a glass of wine.
I can has fun

Market time
I have been waiting for the farmer’s market to open for the season. Today was finally the big day. Unfortunately, the forecast for this morning was 3 with a windchill of -1. So, me being a wimp, I didn’t go. Not to worry, dad went so we got the goods without the frostbite. good times. One of our favorite vendors always has the tiniest asparagus and we have 2 bags full, not to mention baby cucumbers, fresh tomatoes, farmer’s sausage and bread lady bread. The only one missing was the cheese guy. Any guesses what is for supper?
Come on Heather, it will be very.
When I first heard about facebook I was unimpressed. With word of mouth marketing stating “facebook is the new myspace” I was a little repulsed by the idea. I finally succumbed and now, I am beginning to enjoy it.
I feel I should be writing this in the form of a confession. What’s next I profess my love for twitter? (who needs that when facebook gives me status updates) twittervision? nah. flickervisionis the new twittervision. I do like the flickervision… it too is kind of addictive.
false alarm
So it appears that previous reports were incorrect. According to the producer of Battlestar Galactica, Admiral Adama lied!
Ready… can I plant yet?
After a week of sun the garden is almost ready for planting. All of the dead tops have been cut off, the lawn is raked, the beds are topped with soil. Seeds have been planted for runner beans and morning glories. The tulips are all blooming as well as the pasque flower which means the dirt is warm enough for growing. All that is left to do is get fresh soil and flowers for all the pots. When that is done the vegetable garden can be turned and planted.
in the meantime my “must have” list keeps growing…..
frack!
It is official the next season of Battlestar Galactica will be its last. that sucks!
Good Day
I woke up this morning feeling great. Better than I have felt for almost a year. Yay. Spent much time in the garden, even had the energy to empty the 56L compost bin. We have finally figured out the proper dirt/compost ratio, which means that the compost didn’t stink. Also nice.
Poor dog did not have as good of day. He got bit by something on his first outing of the day and his muzzle swelled up. On the bright side, it did not hamper his breathing and he stayed in good spirits all day. He just looked like a clumber spaniel rather than an English
