sounds like a nightmare to me

Spring hit early here, last week we were sitting in temperatures averaging around +12C. The snow was rapidly melting, and tulips were reaching 4″ tall. In fact, even a monkshood had sprouted to almost an inch. Sadly, Saturday evening it began to snow, and the windchill had dropped to -21C. bleh. Coincidentally on Saturday the gossip mills at work added more details to the latest rumor: She who I have been training has been guaranteed the job of frame shop manager when our current manager goes on maternity leave. I had been told that she was in shop because they wanted someone else familiar with how it runs. It seems they have delayed my promotion because if I had said position, I would be the one to get the job.  grrrr. The indirect goal of the week, find out if rumors are true.

In related news, this woman is living her life as Oprah commands. Pulling guidance from Oprah’s talk show, magazine and website, she is chronicling her attempts to live her “best life”. What makes this experiment interesting, is she is also tracking the financial and time costs of her journey.

I like the living Oprah blog. I mean, who of us hasn’t watched an Oprah episode or two, especially since it follows Y&R… but seriously, the woman has amazing influence. She reignited reading with her book club, and one of her health episodes was directly responsible for increasing the price of almonds to the consumers in North America as a result of increased consumer demand. Although I wasn’t particularly happy about that last part, it is amazing that a simple endorsement can affect the market economy. Thanks, I’m going to keep watching that blog.
